Women’s Intro to Backpacking

Women’s 2-night Guided Backpacking trip in the Olympic National Forest

3-Day, 2-Night Trip | Perfect for First-Time Backpackers or Experienced Campers!

Location: Olympic National Forest – Duckabush Trailhead

Cost: $425

Have you ever wanted to go backpacking but didn’t know where to start? This is the perfect trip for you! Join us on a 3-day, 2-night adventure designed to teach you the essentials of backpacking, from gear selection to wilderness navigation, all while exploring the stunning Duckabush River area, located in the Olympic National Forest in Washington state.

The Duckabush trip begins at the Duckabush Trailhead and takes you on a 10-mile round trip excursion. We’ll hike to 5-mile camp, a beautiful route along the river, and up and over Big Hump. We will spend two nights exploring the area before returning. Along the way, you’ll learn from our experienced guides about hiking techniques, setting up camp, Leave No Trace practices, and more—leaving you with some skills and confidence to explore the wilderness safely and respectfully.

  • Gear loans are available
  • A pre-trip planning meeting to prepare for the adventure
  • Expert guidance from certified, experienced outdoor guides

Sleep under the trees in the amazing Olympic National Forest! Prepare for your 3-day trip and get your questions answered at a pre-trip meeting with your two expert guides. Be ready for full days of hiking and exploring, rain or shine. Wild Society guides will teach you the backpacking basics and build your backcountry confidence! Learn how to adjust your pack, set up a tent, build a rain shelter, and cook in the backcountry. You will leave with an understanding of leave no trace principles, wildlife safety, and weather preparedness.

Build community with new friends looking to spend their weekends outside. This is a safe and comfortable space for those female identifying to learn backcountry skills together. Expect stories around the campfire, a morning stretch by the river, and engaging trail conversations. We look forward to adventuring with you!

Women’s 2-night Guided Backpacking trip in the Olympic National Park

3-Day, 2-Night Trip | Perfect for First-Time Backpackers or Experienced Campers!

Location: Olympic National Park – Elwha River

Cost: $425

Have you ever wanted to go backpacking in but didn’t know where to start? This is the perfect trip for you! Join us on a 3-day, 2-night adventure to learn the ins and outs of backpacking from our experienced guides. The Elwha trip begins at the Madison Falls trailhead, and takes you to Upper Lake Mills, a relatively flat 6 mile hike. You’ll stay for two nights exploring the Elwha basin before returning back to the trailhead. Through this experience, we want our campers to leave with the knowledge and skills to explore the wilderness safely, with a sense of respect, wonder, and belonging. Whether you’re new to backpacking or looking to build confidence in the backcountry, this trip is the perfect introduction to wilderness adventure.
