Throughout the year we offer a wide array of classes and adventures locally that focus on natural history, backcountry skills, and human connection with nature through inquiry, exploration, art, and story. During the summer we lead a series of backcountry camps that offer our participants a range of adventures and learning opportunities.
Our camps aim to give our campers an inspiring and empowering experience. We build our camps upon a foundation of natural history, wilderness skills, and an overarching attitude of respect and gratitude toward the living world. Our curriculum covers a wide range of skills and knowledge including trip planning, fundamentals of backpacking, survival techniques, ecology, ethnobotany, and wilderness awareness.
We work to give our campers a basic understanding and skill set that allows them to enter the wilderness and feel like they can trust their abilities to stay safe, have fun, and to feel at home in nature. We offer different types of camps to accommodate different levels of experience, but in all of our camps, participants can expect to be introduced to a fundamental set of skills that will allow them to begin or expand their lifelong relationship with the outdoors.
Classes & Local Adventures
We partner with many local organizations to engage our community and share experiences, skills, and knowledge that we have found to open doors into the natural world. All of our classes are designed to be fun, affordable, explorative, and to inspire a love and interest in wilderness and the outdoors. We are constantly exploring new ways to inspire connection, understanding, and appreciation of nature, and are always open to new partnerships. If you have a program idea please share it with us.
It is important for communities to have lots of opportunities to get together, especially today with the presence of so many ways for people to entertain themselves with technology in the absence of human connection. We feel that it is deeply fulfilling to our most fundamental human needs to gather together and celebrate the living world through stories, art, food, adventure, and stewardship. We host ongoing events that get people together, out of the house, and engaged with the world. From exploratory film festivals and storytelling events, to foraged food dinners, we love getting people together to celebrate the awesomeness of the natural world.
